New To Timberwolf?
You’re In The Right Place!
Looking To Try Your First Class at Timberwolf Fitness?
Trying a new gym can feel intimidating, especially when you don’t know what to expect.
At Timberwolf Fitness, you don’t need to be “in shape” before you start. You don’t need experience with our workouts. And you definitely don’t need to know what every movement means before you walk through the door.
Just show up. We’ll help with the rest.
Our coaches will meet you where you are, explain the workout, help you choose the right movements and weights, and make sure you feel comfortable from the moment you arrive.
Your First Visit Is Easy
1. Pick a Class
Check out our class schedule and choose a time that works for you.
2. Sign Your Waiver
Save yourself a few minutes when you arrive by completing your waiver ahead of time.
3. Come a Little Early
Plan to arrive about 10–15 minutes before class. Let the coach know it’s your first time at Timberwolf Fitness so we can show you around, answer questions and get you ready for the workout.
4. We’ll Take It From There
Your coach will explain the workout and every movement before you begin. If something is new to you, we’ll teach you. If a movement doesn’t work for you, we’ll give you another option.
You will never be expected to simply figure it out on your own.
You Don’t Have to Be Fit to Start
One of the most common things we hear from new members is:
“I need to get in better shape before I try a class.”
You don’t.
Our fitness classes are designed so that the workout can be adjusted to your current fitness level, experience and ability.
That could mean using a lighter weight, changing the number of repetitions, shortening a distance, slowing the pace or substituting a movement entirely.
Two people can be doing different versions of the same workout and still be training together.
The goal isn’t to keep up with the person next to you. The goal is to find the right challenge for you.
What Does “Scaling” a Workout Mean?
You may hear our coaches use the word scaling. It simply means adjusting a workout so it’s appropriate for you.
For example:
If the workout includes running:
You might run a shorter distance, walk, bike or row.
If it includes pull-ups:
You might use a band or perform a different pulling movement.
If it includes lifting weights:
Your coach will help you choose a weight that makes sense for your experience and ability.
If you’re still learning a movement:
We’ll simplify it and help you build the skills and confidence to progress over time.
Scaling isn’t “doing less.” It’s how good training works.
What Does A Class Look Like?
Every class is coach-led, so you won’t walk in and be left wondering what you’re supposed to do.
A typical class includes:
Warm-Up
We’ll get your body moving and prepare you for the day’s workout.
Movement & Skill Instruction
Your coach will demonstrate the movements, explain technique and help you determine the right options for you.
The Workout
This is the main part of class. Everyone works at their own appropriate level while still getting the energy and support of training together.
Cool Down
Catch your breath, recover and celebrate finishing your first Timberwolf workout.
What Should I Bring?
Keep it simple.
Wear comfortable workout clothes and athletic shoes, bring a water bottle, and come ready to move.
You don’t need special equipment or experience.
First Class FAQS
What if I can’t do some of the exercises?
That’s completely normal.
Almost every movement can be modified. Your coach can adjust the movement, weight, repetitions, distance or pace so you can participate safely and confidently.
Will everyone else be more experienced than me?
Some people may have been training for years. Others may be relatively new themselves.
Everyone started with a first class.
Our classes are designed so people with different experience levels can train alongside one another while doing the version of the workout that’s appropriate for them.
What if I don’t know what any of the exercises are?
You don’t need to.
Your coach will explain and demonstrate the movements before the workout begins. If it’s your first time doing something, we’ll help you learn it.
Am I going to slow down the class?
No.
Helping new people is part of coaching the class. You aren’t inconveniencing anyone by asking questions or needing a movement explained.
Are the workouts really for beginners?
Yes.
The workout you see written on the board is a starting point. Your coach will help determine the version that’s right for you.
Beginners, experienced athletes and everyone in between can train in the same class.
What if I have an old injury or something I can’t do?
Tell your coach before class begins. We can often modify movements around limitations or find another exercise that accomplishes a similar goal.
If you have a medical condition or injury that you’re unsure about exercising with, check with your healthcare provider before participating.
What should I wear?
Comfortable workout clothes and athletic shoes are perfect. You don’t need any special gear for your first class.
How early should I arrive?
We recommend arriving about 10–15 minutes early for your first visit. That gives us time to welcome you, show you around and answer questions before class begins.
What if I’m nervous?
That’s normal , and you won’t be the first or last person who’s walked through our doors feeling that way.
Our job isn’t to see how much you can do on day one. It’s to help you have a great first experience and leave feeling like you can come back and do it again.
